Terms of Service

Welcome to Noctura. By accessing or using Noctura (noctura.app), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. The service

Noctura is an online research tool for exploring academic literature: a topic becomes a canvas of linked cards, each grounded in published sources (PubMed, arXiv, OpenAlex, Wikipedia and other open scholarly indexes), with AI-written summaries that link back to those sources.

2. Academic & literature discovery disclaimer

Noctura is an exploratory visualization platform designed to help researchers, students, clinicians and inquisitive minds navigate academic literature. Noctura is not a substitute for professional medical, clinical, legal or diagnostic advice. AI syntheses and automated summaries are generated as a reading aid; all findings must be verified against the linked primary literature (PubMed, arXiv and journal DOIs).

3. Accounts

You can use Noctura as a guest or with an account (email, Google, Microsoft or GitHub sign-in). You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your email secure. You may delete your account at any time from your profile.

4. Plans, billing & credits

5. Intellectual property & your research

You retain ownership of the canvases, notes, hypotheses and graphs you create in Noctura. Noctura claims no intellectual property rights over your work or the exports you make from it. Source texts and images belong to their authors and publishers and are shown with links to the original.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to use Noctura responsibly. You may not attempt to reverse-engineer the service, exploit vulnerabilities, launch denial-of-service attacks or abuse the API. Automated scraping of Noctura's hosted synthesis API beyond reasonable personal use is prohibited. We may suspend accounts that break these rules.

7. Limitation of liability

Noctura is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Noctura and its maintainers disclaim liability for errors, omissions or downtime, and are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before it arose.

8. Changes & governing law

We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and significant changes are announced in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of India.
